TWO NEW SPECIES OF DIATOMAL ALGAE FROM THE ALEUTAN ISLANDS DESCRIBED
In the study of diatoms of the genus Meridion in samples from modern reservoirs on Unalashka Island, an employee of the IEE RAS Neplyukhina A.A. and an employee of MSU, DBS Chudaev D.A. discovered and described two species of this genus new to science - Meridion tenuipes and Meridion humerosum.

All-Russian scientific and practical conference with international participation "Russia in the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. Coastal Zone: Science, Ecology, Culture, Education"

The conference is being organized by the Russian National Committee for the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development/Interdepartmental National Oceanographic Commission of the Russian Federation (INOC) in collaboration with the Institute for Integrated Studies of National Marine Policy of the Russian Technical University MIREA and the Museum-Reserve "Museum of the World Ocean," with the support of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science and the Russian Ministry of Culture. The conference will be one of the official events of the UN Decade of Ocean Science and Sustainable Development.

From September 24-27, 2026, the Koltsov Institute of Developmental Biology of the Russian Academy of Sciences will host a school for young scientists, "Objects and Methods of Developmental Biology: Genomic, Molecular, and Morphogenetic Mechanisms of Development and Regeneration." The school is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the eminent embryologist D.P. Filatov (1876-1943).

Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow, Leninsky Prospekt, 33). Nikolai Vladimirovich Bardukov, Candidate of Biological Sciences, will defend his dissertation "Formation of the Modern Range of the Three-Spined Stickleback (Gasterosteus aculeatus)."
