Conference "Scientific Foundations of Sustainable Forest Management"

We invite you to participate in the conference "Scientific Foundations of Sustainable Forest Management," held in memory of Professor O.V. Smirnova. The conference will take place on October 27-30, 2026, in Moscow at the A.S. Isaev Center for Forest Ecology and Productivity of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).

The deadline for conference registration and abstract submission has been extended to October 1, 2026.

The organizing committee has decided to waive the registration fee for participation in the conference.

A collection of conference proceedings and thematic issues of the journals Lesovedenie (White List, Scopus) and Voprosy Lesnoy Nauki (White List, VAK List) will be prepared based on the conference results.

The conference program includes presentations by leading experts and discussions on topical issues regarding sustainable forest management across the following areas:

* History of natural resource use and climate; dynamics of forest biogeocenotic cover.

* Forest biodiversity, ecosystem functions, and services.

* Impact of natural and anthropogenic disturbances on forests.

* Role of intact old-growth forests in the functioning of forest landscapes and biomes.

* Population-based approach in forest ecology.

* Urban forest ecosystems.

* Remote sensing and GIS technologies for assessing forest resource potential, biodiversity, and ecosystem functions.

* Development of forest-based climate projects.

* Impact of forestry practices on forests under global change.
