In recent years, the laboratory's work has been conducted in the following areas:
1. Study of the mechanisms by which biotic and abiotic parameters of the natural and anthropogenic environment affect the viability, distribution, and dynamics of mammal populations.
2. Study of microevolutionary processes in mammal populations.
3. Phylogenetic reconstructions of the evolution of populations and species and of the history of the formation of entire faunas.
4. Study of the coevolution of mammals with their pathogens and parasites.
