The laboratory conducts research on the effects of engineered nanomaterials (nanoparticles) on living organisms. The data obtained show that nanoparticles can affect fish development, and that chronic exposure often causes DNA and chromosomal damage.

The presence of ecotoxicants in the environment leads to a cumulative effect of nanoparticle exposure on living organisms, which must be taken into account in the production and use of nanomaterials.
The laboratory has developed a number of methodological guidelines and recommendations for assessing the toxicity of nanoparticles to living organisms. Promising models for toxicological and biomedical research are being developed.
