Academician Alexei Nikolaevich Severtsov is known as the founder of animal evolutionary morphology and one of the most prominent biologists of the 20th century. Our institute - the A.N. Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution of the Russian Academy of Sciences - bears his name.
