From August 12 to 20, 2026, the International Conference and Summer Field School "Greenhouse Gas Flows: Current Issues in Modern Research" was held in Moscow (IEE RAS) and the Tver Region (Central Forest State Nature Biosphere Reserve). The event was organized by the A.N. Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IEE RAS), the Central Forest State Nature Biosphere Reserve, Lomonosov Moscow State University, and the National Research University Higher School of Economics. Fifty-two papers from 12 Russian cities were presented at the conference, with papers also presented online from Hanoi (Vietnam), Beijing and Menla (China), and Leh and Pune (India). Fourteen researchers from Voronezh, Grozny, Moscow, Tomsk, Ufa, and Khanty-Mansiysk participated in the summer field school.
The conference focused on greenhouse gas flux monitoring (both chamber and eddy covariance methods), modeling, and spatial scaling of ground-based measurements. During a field seminar from August 14–16 in the Nelidovsky District of Tver Oblast, participants visited the Fyodorovskoye ecological and climatic station, which has been operating continuously since 1998 in a swampy spruce forest, as well as stations in a raised bog and an overgrown clearing. Landscape excursions covered a raised bog, meadows, mixed spruce-broadleaf forests, and spruce and pine communities on peat soils. During a school from August 16–20, participants learned how to operate the measuring system equipment, conduct chamber measurements, and process eddy covariance data. Specifically, data obtained from the measuring systems used by the school participants was reviewed.
