The Russian Science Foundation announces the start of accepting applications for three competitions

The Russian Science Foundation is accepting applications for a competition for fundamental and exploratory genetic research projects, at the request of the President of Russia and world-class scientific laboratories. Competitions have also been announced to extend the deadlines for projects supported by RSF grants in 2023, for research conducted by research groups led by young scientists, and for support of Russian-Belarusian research teams jointly with the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research (BRFFR).

  • Competition for World-Class Laboratories and Genetic Research

Grants are allocated for scientific research in 2027–2030, with a possible subsequent three-year extension.

The Foundation's grant for world-class laboratory projects will range from 20 to 30 million rubles.

Co-financing is required for qualified clients or technological partners to conduct scientific research.

The Foundation's grant for genetic research projects will range from 20 to 32 million rubles annually. Co-financing may be provided for qualified clients or technological partners to conduct scientific research.

Applications for the competitions must be submitted by 5:00 PM (Moscow time) on September 20, 2026. Competition results will be announced by December 15, 2026.

  • Competition for Extending Project Deadlines Led by Young Scientists

Grants are allocated for scientific research in 2026–2028.

The Foundation will award a grant of between 3 and 6 million rubles annually.

Applications must be submitted by 5:00 PM (Moscow time) on May 22, 2026. Competition results will be announced by July 10, 2026.

  • Competition for Russian-Belarusian Research Teams

Grants are allocated for fundamental and exploratory scientific research in 2027–2029.

Scientific research must be aimed at solving specific problems within the framework of one of the scientific priorities determined by the issues of society's socio-economic development. The projected research outcome must be world-class and make a significant contribution to solving the key problems of this scientific priority.

The Foundation will award a grant of between 3 and 6 million rubles annually.

Applications for the competition are due no later than 5:00 PM (Moscow time) on May 29, 2026. Competition results will be announced by December 31, 2026.
