Scientific and practical seminar: The role of protected areas in the conservation and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystem functions of forests

2026 marks the 70th anniversary of the birth of Maxim Grigorievich Sinitsyn, PhD in Biology, the founder and first director of the Kologrivsky Forest Nature Reserve. To commemorate this anniversary, a scientific and practical seminar on the study of protected areas will be held on March 24, 2026, at the Center for Ecological and Practical Forestry of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow). The seminar program will include reminiscences from Maxim Grigorievich's colleagues and scientific papers on the monitoring and study of protected natural complexes.

Following the seminar, a thematic issue of the journal "Problems of Forest Science" (No. 4, 2026) is planned for publication. Manuscripts from seminar speakers and attendees are accepted for this issue. The deadline for submissions is July 15, 2026. All manuscripts undergo mandatory peer review.

Participation in the seminar is free and available remotely as well as in person. An online broadcast will be organized. To participate in the seminar as a listener, you must complete the registration form by March 16, 2026.
