The IEE RAS Young Scientists Council invites graduate students and young scientists to participate in the intensive "Scientific Writing Workshop for Early Career Researchers: From Thesis to Publication (plus secrets that Journal Editors Don't Share)"

Writing a scientific article in English is a task that can sometimes be challenging even for experienced researchers. Good data doesn't guarantee a successful publication: you need skills in structuring the text, clearly presenting the results, and understanding what journal editors expect. Mastering all of this on your own is challenging—and that's where this intensive comes in handy.

Over the course of six days, you'll work on your own article under the guidance of an experienced instructor, Jacob Wickam, PhD, Senior Researcher in the Laboratory of Soil Zoology and General Entomology. Step by step, you'll learn how to structure a scientific text, how to present results, how to improve readability, and how to refine your manuscript to a journal-ready level. By the end of the intensive course, you'll have a complete article.

The course format involves intensive practical work and individual attention, so the number of participants is limited. Please note that classes are taught in English.

The course will last six days and starts on December 2nd.

Session 1: December 2nd, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Session 2: December 4th, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Session 3: December 9th, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Session 4: December 11th, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Session 5: December 16th, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Session 6: December 18th, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Requirements for paticipation:

— a motivation letter in English

— a description of the proposed article or a draft (if available)

This is necessary so we can select participants who are truly committed to the intensive work and see the article through to completion.

If you would like to apply, please complete the form, attach a cover letter, and a draft of your article by Saturday, November 29th.

We will notify you of the selection results by email on November 30th and invite you to the intensive participants' chat on Telegram.

For more information, please contact Alisa Neplyukhina and Natalia Sopilko.
