The monograph is the world's first complete summary of the cladocera fauna of Northern Eurasia, whose representatives often play a leading role in the communities of continental and sea waters. The first volume describes the history of their study in a given territory, external and internal structure, biology of nutrition and reproduction, ecological and behavioral features, including the relationship with invertebrates and vertebrate predators. It also touches upon the study of their genetics, physiology, remains in bottom sediments, origin, taxonomy, faunogenesis and geographical distribution.
