The laboratory's work focuses on studying the processes that determine the climate-regulating functions of natural and anthropogenically modified terrestrial ecosystems, based on instrumental observations at various levels of spatial averaging and on modeling.
The laboratory is also developing an open scientific infrastructure for observing ecosystem greenhouse-gas fluxes across Russia.
