All-Russian (with international participation) scientific zoological conference dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Nikolai Alekseevich Severtsov
October 24, 2027, marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Nikolai Alekseevich Severtsov—a renowned Russian zoologist, geographer, explorer, one of the founders of Russian ecology and zoogeography, and the founder of the Severtsov scientific dynasty. The upbringing and education N.A. Severtsov received during his childhood and adolescence, which he spent on the family estate in the village of Petrovskoye, Bobrovsky District, Voronezh Governorate, influenced his subsequent life's path, which he devoted entirely to science. Certainly, it is difficult to overestimate Nikolai Alekseevich's contributions to the study of the natural history of Central Asia and the Urals. However, he became widely known as a scientist, one of the first to apply an ecological approach in his research, thanks to his fundamental work “Periodic Phenomena in the Life of Animals, Birds, and Reptiles of the Voronezh Province,” the main part of which was carried out on the territory of his native Bobrovsky Uyezd (now the Bobrovsky District of the Voronezh Region).
In anticipation of this date, the Administration of the Bobrovsky Municipal District of the Voronezh Region and the Bobrovsky District Museum of History and Local Lore are planning to hold an All-Russian (with international participation) scientific zoological conference dedicated to the 200th anniversary of N.A.
