Utrish Marine Station

The Utrish Marine Station of IEE RAS was established in 1978. The Station is located on the Black Sea coast between Anapa and Novorossiysk, near Cape Maly Utrish. It occupies a 2-hectare plot of land in close proximity to the sea, surrounded by low, forested hills. It is an inter-laboratory field station for studying marine mammals and fish. The Station can accommodate up to 40 people at a time. It has about 30 temporary laboratory, utility and residential buildings, 7 experimental pools, and enclosures for keeping dolphins and pinnipeds in a coastal lagoon with seawater. The Station has a dining hall, storage facilities, a boathouse, a garage, freezers for storing food for marine mammals, scuba diving equipment, motorboats, and vehicles. 

Several laboratories of IEE RAS work systematically at the Station.
